Go to just about any office, talk to just about any office worker, and you can expect most of them would want to have raket– a side project to make some extra cash.
The more entrepreneurial types probably already have one- or even quite a few- going on. Traditionally, it can be selling anything from tocino (Philippine cured pork), to underwear, prepaid load for mobile phones, insurance plans of all kinds, ukay ukay (surplus) clothes- anything!
There are those who take up a craft, like cooking and baking- and sell goodies for Christmas, or teach piano on weekends, or doing graphics for small companies- the list just goes on.
And then there are those who probably have some funds stashed away- hoping to start a business of sorts.
So as you can see, Filipinos are truly an entrepreneurial sort. Whether out of necessity, a growing interest in business, or just a natural aptitude for money-making, there’s always someone out there trying to make some extra cash.
Don’t Quit Your Day Job!
Our little group realizes the need of many office workers to augment their income somehow, without jeopardizing their regular employment. Which is why- out of our similar desire to do something besides our usual 8-hour set of corporate tasks- we thought it would be a great idea to organize small social gatherings of friends (and friends of friends, etc.), invite a couple of speakers, and share their expertise over cups of coffee and good conversation.
So check out some of our events– we always have some from time to time, like our continuing series of workshops and seminars for entrepreneurs and business-minded folk. And every now and then, we’ll post some useful, helpful tips right here!
